BMC started work with rickshaw pullers. Rickshaws pullers are among the least organized and least protected sectors. Neither is their working environment regulated nor their social security issues addressed.
Bhartiya Micro Credit (“BMC”) is a micro-finance company registered & licensed as Non Profit Making Company (Non Deposit taking) under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 and exempt from the provisions of Chapter III B of the RBI Act, 1934. It got registered in the year 2007. Organisations provides financial services to poor rural/semi urban families in the Central & Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India to enable them to invest in income-generating activities. It also provides insurance products by collaborating Insurance Companies to assist in asset development, as well as a complementary loan product for special emergencies.
As an organization dedicated to the socio-economic development of rural/semi urban communities, BMC is also looking to facilitate additional services to its clients through alliances with other organizations in the area of economic development and empowerment. Main focus of the organization is to enhance the income of households and improve the status of women in the society.
BMC was established in Jan, 2008, first branch was established in Sitapur district, considering the poverty indicators in non competitive environment, as there was no MFI operation. During the year 2008-09 BMC established two other new branches in Sitapur District. During this year organization has expanded its operation in four other districts i.e. Lucknow, Kanpur, Mirzapur and Varanasi. Presently organization is operating in 5 districts with its 7 branches.
Mission: Mission of BMC is “To provide equitable access of financial and allied services to the poor women living below poverty line & lower income households to enhance their quality of life in a sustainable manner.”
Vision: Vision of the organization is “To build a society where all have equal and sufficient economic and social opportunities to improve their standards of living, and where they can contribute productively towards the overall development of the country. At the same time, it seeks to achieve a transparent and sustainable institution by providing financial services to more than one lack clients by 2012, while operating with fast-track growth model and innovative financing strategy”

BMC has focused on designing new innovative products and providing livelihood asset so that a significant impact can be seen in the life of poor clients. Among the rural population microfinance loan provided to women members for buffalo rearing and for the members residing in the urban and semi urban area organization has provided loan for rickshaw, trolley and push cards. Besides, organization has also provided support services along with loan to enhance their livelihood opportunities.
